About The Position

Lyon College invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Exercise Science beginning in August 2026. Preferred candidates will have a Ph.D. in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or a closely related field and teaching experience at the undergraduate level. Applicants who will have completed all degree requirements by the start date will be considered. Successful candidates should have a desire to work at a small liberal arts college as well as familiarity with and enthusiasm for liberal arts education. Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or a closely related field
  • Teaching experience at the undergraduate level
  • Desire to work at a small liberal arts college
  • Familiarity with and enthusiasm for liberal arts education

Responsibilities

  • Engage in a 21 load-hour schedule, teaching in-person introductory and advanced courses in exercise science and related areas.
  • Provide laboratory-based instruction utilizing modern exercise testing technologies.
  • Maintain an active program of scholarly and professional activity, including research, publications, and participation in professional organizations.
  • Contribute to the College's robust undergraduate research culture by mentoring students and maintaining a scholarly agenda that involves them.
  • Serve on College committees, advise psychology majors, and participate in recruiting, curricular development, and assessment efforts.
  • Engage in service to the community in support of the mission and values of the College.
