About The Position

The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CIE) at the University of Maine (UMaine) invites applications for a tenure track position in environmental engineering. Applicants must hold B.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering or a closely related discipline specializing in environmental engineering by the hire date. Preferred areas of expertise include water chemistry, remediation of emerging pollutants (for example, PFAS), advanced water treatment, pollutant fate and transport, and environmental systems or water quality modeling. The position is expected to be filled at the level of Assistant Professor. A successful candidate will be expected to have or be eligible to obtain licensure as a registered professional engineer (PE). Candidates will engage in instruction of fundamental and applied environmental engineering courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels and enhance the Department's existing curriculum; establish and maintain a nationally competitive, externally funded research program; author high-quality peer-reviewed publications; train M.S. and Ph.D. students; and actively engage in service to the profession, university, and state. This position is 50% teaching and 50% research. The successful candidate will be strongly encouraged to obtain licensure as a professional engineer (PE) before promotion to associate professor.
