The English program in the School of Humanities at the University of Southern Mississippi invites qualified applicants for a full-time, 9-month, tenure track, Assistant Professor in Creative Writing (Open Genre, with preference for poetry) to begin Fall 2026. The School of Humanities is the home of the Center for Writers (http://www.usm.edu/writers) and includes a thriving graduate program that grants both Ph.D. and M.A. degrees in literature with a concentration in creative writing. The Center for Writers is also home to The Mississippi Review. The successful candidate will teach in Southern Miss's premier graduate and undergraduate creative writing programs, contribute service, teach other courses depending on expertise, and serve on thesis and dissertation committees.
