The Department of English, Rhetoric, and Writing at Berry College is seeking a dedicated teacher-scholar-mentor for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position specializing in Global Literature in English. The ideal candidate will possess expertise in postcolonial, diasporic, or indigenous studies, with additional knowledge in global modernism being a desirable asset. This role emphasizes the importance of interdisciplinary approaches, welcoming interests in fields such as health humanities, digital humanities, environmental humanities, and narrative studies. The successful candidate will be committed to fostering astute, creative, and sensitive readers and writers, helping students appreciate the power and complexity of literature as a reflection of human experiences. The position requires a strong commitment to teaching in a liberal arts environment, including first-year writing courses, and a genuine dedication to mentoring students. The candidate will join a vibrant department within the Evans School of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences, known for its collegial and supportive atmosphere. Faculty members are encouraged to engage with students both inside and outside the classroom, developing meaningful mentoring relationships through initiatives like the LifeWorks program, which allows students to work as research assistants, and guiding them in undergraduate research and capstone portfolio development.
