The Department of English at Coastal Carolina University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of English specializing in American Literature and/or American Studies teaching a 3/3 load to begin August 2026. Candidates must hold a PhD in English, American Literature, or American Studies by August 2026 and have college-level teaching experience. Candidates who have the ability to teach adolescent and children's literature are especially welcomed. We seek candidates who show demonstrated potential as a teacher-scholar whose research and teaching engage American literary and cultural studies in diverse historical, cultural, and/or media contexts. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate literature courses, introductory literature and composition courses, and have the opportunity to teach graduate courses in the Master of Arts in Writing program. Candidates able to contribute related programs and minors in English Secondary Education, Film and New Media, Southern Studies, the Joyner Institute for Gullah and African Diaspora Studies etc. are especially welcomed.
