About The Position

Seattle Pacific University’s Electrical Engineering is housed in the Technology Division of the College of Business and Technology. We seek to prepare diverse students to collaboratively solve complex engineering and computing challenges with competence, integrity, and humility to reach their potential and to serve God and society. The Technology Division offers B.S. degrees in Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and General Engineering, as well as Computer Science and Data Science. Engineering faculty serve these programs. The Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and General Engineering programs are ABET accredited. (As a new program, the Biomedical Engineering program is not yet eligible for ABET accreditation.) Seattle Pacific University seeks applications for a full-time, non-tenure-track Assistant Professor of Electrical Engineering in the College of Business and Technology, beginning September 1, 2026, with a possibility of moving to tenure-track in the future. Exceptional candidates with outstanding qualifications and experience may be considered for appointment at the rank of Associate Professor. The teaching load is approximately 33 quarter credits per academic year, primarily undergraduate courses in engineering and computer science, with advising of undergraduates and supervision of undergraduate research projects. Faculty are expected to establish and maintain a program of research/scholarship and to participate actively in the life of the program, division, college, and university. We are building a learning community rooted in Christian faith that values excellent teaching, student mentoring, and learning from one another across differences.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field (ABD considered).
  • Strong commitment to excellence in undergraduate education.

Nice To Haves

  • Candidates in any specialization will be considered. To complement current faculty interests, specialization in power and/or electronics is preferred.
  • Versatility to teach introductory courses across multiple areas of engineering and computer science, and expertise to teach advanced undergraduate courses in at least one of these areas.
  • Experience working with diverse populations and equity-related issues.
  • Industry experience is valued, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate courses in engineering and possibly also computer science.
  • Advise students in academic progress, vocational discernment, and career pathways.
  • Maintain an active research and/or creative agenda, presenting and publishing as appropriate.
  • Participate in departmental, divisional, college, and university service.
