About The Position

The Department of Economics at the University of Illinois at Chicago is seeking to fill a tenure-track assistant professor position in public economics for the 2026-2027 academic year.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. is required. Degree must be conferred by time of appointment (August 2026).
  • Candidates should show promise of significant scholarship and ability to teach at both the undergraduate and Ph.D. levels.
  • UIC faculty are expected to carry out their responsibilities in person and onsite as part of a vibrant and collegial on-campus community

Responsibilities

  • Teach and advise students at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
  • Develop a vibrant research program.
  • Contribute to the intellectual life of the department.
  • Contribute to the department, college and university through service.
  • Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
