About The Position

Southeastern Louisiana University’s Department of Visual Art + Design invites applications for the tenure-track position of Assistant Professor of Digital Media. This position will start in the Fall Semester of 2026 (August 11th). Candidates will have the ability to teach in two or more of the following areas: New Media and Animation, Graphic Design, Photography, or Foundations. Duties will include teaching perceptual, conceptual, technical, and critical skills in undergraduate courses involving digital media, animation, and design. Additional duties include assisting in maintaining a computer design lab, maintaining an active studio practice through creating and exhibiting artwork, providing academic advisement, and conducting periodic reviews of students. The successful candidate will also perform university service as needed. Applicants must be committed to working with diverse populations. Requirements

  • M.F.A. Degree in Digital Arts, Digital Media, Digital Design, or a closely related field or equivalent, by the hire date
  • Ability to teach all levels of digital art and/or design at the undergraduate level, and knowledge of contemporary digital art practices

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated commitment to artistic activity through an ongoing professional practice or active exhibition record in digital media or a related discipline
  • College teaching experience beyond graduate program
  • Ability to teach a course in a traditional studio discipline, such as Painting, Drawing, Ceramics, Printmaking, or Sculpture, in addition to Digital Media
  • Ability to maintain a Digital Art facility
  • Expertise with multiple software packages included in Adobe Creative Suites
