The Department of Sociology, Social Work, and Criminology at Idaho State University invites applications for a tenure-track position in criminology beginning August 2026. While we are open to a wide range of teaching and research interests with a criminological focus, we are especially interested in a candidate whose expertise lies at the intersection of criminology and mental health/medical sociology. Applicants who can teach courses in penology, community corrections, mental health, criminology, and related topics are especially encouraged. Teaching duties for this position are a 3/3 load and may include in-class, broadcast (synchronous online), online (asynchronous), and hyflex (online and in-person at the same time) formats. The successful candidate will be expected to grow and maintain an active research program, including publishing in scholarly journals and submitting grant proposals, and to fill service roles in the department, college, university, and community.
