About The Position

The Department of Criminal Justice at Indiana University South Bend is currently seeking qualified applicants for a tenure track position beginning August 1 2026. A Ph.D. in Criminal Justice or Criminology is required and ABD candidates will be considered as long as a PhD in Criminal Justice or Criminology is in hand by the time of appointment. A JD and/or EdD degree alone is not sufficient. The full-time load (100% FTE ) is 12 credit hours (typically four courses) each fall and spring semester, with one course (25% FTE ) reassigned time for scholarly and creative activities following university & campus policies. Successful applicants will be expected to demonstrate a commitment to quality instruction, maintain an active research agenda, and be willing to engage in service activities. Successful applicants should have teaching experience in core courses such as Introduction to Criminal Justice and Criminological Theory. Although distinct specialization is open, teaching and research experience in at least two of the following areas will be given preference: Criminal Justice Statistics, Research Methods, Race and Crime, Comparative Criminal Justice Systems, Indiana University is an equal opportunity employer and provider of ADA services and prohibits discrimination in hiring.
