About The Position

The Assistant Professor position at CT State Community College is a tenure track role that requires full-time commitment over a 10-month academic year, teaching 30 credit hours. The position is located at the Norwalk campus and is not remote. The anticipated start date is Fall 2026, with a focus on preparing and teaching college-approved courses, developing syllabi, and maintaining course materials. The role also involves evaluating student learning, providing academic advising, and participating in program-related events. The Assistant Professor will have supervisory responsibilities and will be expected to engage with various stakeholders, including students and external agencies.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • Four (4) years college teaching experience (96+ credits) OR two (2) years of teaching experience (48+ credits) with four (4) years of related work experience.
  • Proven ability to effectively work with culturally, linguistically, and ethnically diverse faculty, staff, and students.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Strong Information technology literacy skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, etc.).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience teaching Database Development, Web and/or Software Development.
  • Experience with curriculum development, program assessment, and evaluation.
  • Experience using technology to enhance the learning environment, e.g., Blackboard, online instruction or other modalities/software.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and teach college-approved courses in accordance with approved course descriptions and class schedules.
  • Develop syllabi and reading lists, keeping each course taught complete and up to date.
  • Respond to and work with multiple constituencies, including students, peers, and external agencies.
  • Perform divisional departmental responsibilities in the selection of texts and related teaching resources.
  • Evaluate and assess student learning.
  • Provide student support and academic advising.
  • Plan and execute program-related events.
  • Assist with program reviews and curriculum development.
  • Attend workshops and conferences to maintain currency in profession and field.
  • Recruit, advise, and retain students.
  • Select appropriate part-time instructors and schedule program courses.
  • Hire and evaluate faculty and establish partnerships with local organizations.
  • Arrange and supervise internships and assess program improvements.
  • Attend convocation and commencement ceremonies, and participate in committees and meetings.
