About The Position

The Department of Computer Science at Pacific Lutheran University enrolls approximately 100 declared computer science majors. The Department offers both a Bachelor of Science and a Bachelor of Arts and has an excellent reputation for educating well-rounded, ethical, technically sound, diverse graduates who go on to successful careers in industry or to graduate school. The Department is committed to pedagogical innovation, mentoring diverse students, maintaining strong ties to industry through our Computer Science Industry Advisory Board, and providing research opportunities for undergraduates through the Division of Natural Sciences Summer Undergraduate Research Program. Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Computer Science or closely related field. ABD will be considered, but Ph.D. must be in hand by September 1, 2019.
  • Evidence of commitment to teaching, research and service.
  • Applicant must be legally eligible to work in the United States on hire date AND legally authorized to work in the United States for Pacific Lutheran University without sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous undergraduate teaching experience in Computer Science.
  • Preference will be given to candidates who are prepared to teach computer organization, operating systems, networks, security, and other courses that meet the needs of the department.
  • Demonstrated record of peer-reviewed scholarship.
  • Experience or the potential to conduct research with undergraduate students.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with a background and commitment to broadening the participation of women and underrepresented minorities in computer science.
