About The Position

The Sullivan School of Business and Technology at Carroll University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor of Computer Science. This hire supports the strategic importance of our undergraduate Information technology and Artificial Intelligence programs and complements related programs in the Department of Engineering and Technology Sciences within the Sullivan School. The ideal candidate will possess the interest and experience to contribute to the advancement of the application of AI within the university. Responsibilities This is a tenure-track teaching position. The Computer Science faculty member will contribute expertise to course and curriculum development efforts for computer science, information technology, and artificial intelligence programs. The anticipated teaching load is 12- to 16-credits each semester over the 9-month appointment. Interest and expertise are needed to teach and develop courses from a broad set of courses related to: o Information Systems and Enterprise Systems o Project Management o IT Systems Administration o Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning o Human-Computer Interaction & UX o Cloud Computing & Distributed Systems o Computer Networks & Cybersecurity In addition, opportunities exist to collaborate with other faculty in areas such as mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, robotics, drone engineering, and analytics with faculty in the Department of Engineering & Technology Sciences. All Carroll University faculty are expected to participate in professional development activities to enhance teaching effectiveness and remain current in their academic and professional fields. In addition, this position will be involved in service to the school and university through representation and meaningful participation on committees, student recruitment activities, assessment programs, and student advising. Requirements

  • Earned Ph.D. in a computer-related field preferred; candidates with an M.S. and appropriate industry experience especially in information technology or enterprise AI considered

Nice To Haves

  • Industry experience in IT management, Enterprise AI applications, cybersecurity, cloud computing, data science and ML, or a related area preferred
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching and curriculum design, including hybrid and online delivery preferred
  • Evidence of collaboration, interdisciplinary initiatives, or applied work
  • Interest in developing partnerships with industry and contributing to program innovation
