The Department of Computer Engineering and Computer Science (CECS) at California State University, Long Beach, is a vibrant and diverse community of over 50 faculty and more than 2,000 students dedicated to advancing the frontiers of computing and engineering. We offer a comprehensive range of undergraduate and graduate programs, including our newest Bachelor of Science in Applied Data Science, launched in Fall 2025, which prepares students for data-driven careers in fields such as linguistics and health analytics. Our faculty are engaged in cutting-edge research in artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, software engineering, Internet of Things, embedded systems, and data science with applications spanning healthcare, industry, and public policy.
