The Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering at Louisiana State University is seeking a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Coastal Geotechnics and Geotechnical Engineering. This position involves teaching both graduate and undergraduate courses, developing a research program, and providing service to the department and college. The anticipated start date is Fall 2025.

  • Teaching graduate and undergraduate courses in Civil and Environmental Engineering.
  • Developing and sustaining an independent, extramurally sponsored research program.
  • Providing service to the graduate and undergraduate degree programs in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, the College of Engineering, and LSU.
  • Ph.D. degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related field.
  • Demonstrated strong interest in research and scholarship in geotechnical engineering and coastal geotechnics.
  • Qualifications for professional registration as a professional engineer, with the expectation to become registered within the pre-tenure period.
  • Excellence in teaching both basic and design courses in geotechnical engineering.
  • Experience in developing a sustainable research program in coastal and offshore geotechnics, coastal resilience, geohazard assessment and mitigation, and coastal and marine infrastructure.
  • Strong experimental background in geotechnical engineering.
  • Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
  • Access to a large student body and a well-resourced engineering college.
