About The Position

The Assistant Professor is in direct report to the Division Chief, Department of Surgery, University of Miami School of Medicine. The Physician provides patient care by interviewing and treating clinical patients in order to meet their medical needs. The Physician educates patients on wellness, prevention, and early detection by providing materials and resources to the patients and families.

Requirements

  • MD, DDS, or MD/DDS degree.
  • Board certified in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
  • Possess a Florida Medical License and DEA certificate.
  • Excellent academic record.
  • Recognized teaching skills and expertise in residency, fellowship, and medical student training.
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply professional medical principles, procedures, and techniques.
  • Thorough knowledge of pharmacological agents used in patient treatments.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills along with proper bedside manner.
  • Ability to perform in a tactful and professional manner.

Responsibilities

  • Promote the mission of UHealth in achieving its role in providing medical education, research, and quality patient care.
  • Participate in international, national, regional, and local activities within the health care industry, which impact the future role of the Divisional Surgical Areas funding environment.
  • Participate in Oral Surgery Service and residency training.
  • Serve in key activities for the Department of Surgery as agreed upon with the Division Chief.
  • Responsible for clinical care in all aspects of oral maxillofacial surgery.
  • Work collaboratively with other physicians in the division.
  • Involved in resident supervision at the University of Miami/Jackson Health System and the Miami Veteran’s Administration Hospital.
  • Teach students in both junior and senior elective programs as sponsored by this Division within the students’ surgical experience.
  • Pursue protocols to fund experiments under supervision.
  • Document all services in patient medical records.
  • Comply with Departmental Policy & Procedures & Hospital Bylaws.
  • Exercise final medical judgment in all issues of healthcare.
