About The Position

This position will be based in the greater Fort Collins area. The faculty member will participate in the overall activities of the Section of Neonatology, such that the highest standards of patient and family care, staff education, fellowship training and individual research are maintained. This person is also responsible for effective interface with other programs and the community as well as aligning and carrying out Section goals.

Requirements

  • Board Certification in Pediatrics and board certified or board eligible in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine
  • Eligible for position at Associate Professor Level
  • Licensed to practice medicine in the state of Colorado (by start date)
  • Able to participate as section-based informatics liaison between hospital systems
  • Current DEA license (at time of hire)
  • Must successfully pass a drug test through Children’s Hospital Colorado
  • Must be willing and able to pass a national criminal background check

Nice To Haves

  • Board-certified in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience working in tertiary/quaternary NICU setting
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in Neonatal postoperative care

Responsibilities

  • Participates in the formulation of rules, regulations and standards of care relating to professional activities within the newborn units. This responsibility includes the establishment of the appropriate mechanisms to ensure that these rules, regulations and standards are adhered to.
  • Responsible, along with other members of the neonatal staff, of assuring the quality, safety, and appropriateness of patient care services provided within the different clinical services.
  • Responsible for the development and maintenance of liaison with outlying hospitals, private physicians and operational heads of other medical specialties.
  • Participates in the attending - direct patient care - responsibilities of the Section staff.
  • Participates actively in all the academic activities of the Section.
  • Supervises and ensures education of the highest quality of pediatric housestaff, medical students, fellows, private physicians in the management of high-risk newborns.
  • Responsible for developing and implementing appropriate clinical and/or basic research projects independently.
  • Encourages participation in clinical and/or basic research by all members of the Section and its fellows in training.
