The University of Texas Medical Branch Galveston is currently seeking applicants for a full-time Division Chief for the Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the rank of Associate Professor / Professor. The position includes responsibilities in the CODA approved Oral and Maxillofacial residency program. Over the last 5 years, UTMB has expanded from a single hospital on the Island of Galveston to a four-hospital health care system covering the Southeastern Houston healthcare market. UTMB is a member of the Texas Medical Center (TMC), has an annual budget over $2 billion, and has the second most hospital discharges in the TMC. The Health System offers the full range of clinical care including stroke center certification, heart, liver, kidney and pancreas transplantation, and cardiac surgery at two of the four hospitals. UTMB is also one of only three Level I Trauma Centers in greater Houston area. Along with the rapid clinical expansion, the organization has kept a focus on quality, achieving top ten status in Vizient in three of the last five years. The Department of Surgery at UTMB has a long history of academic excellence over its 130-year existence. The Department currently has about 70 faculty in 12 Divisions. The Department accounts for about 42%25 of the total surgical volume carried out across the various facilities at UTMB.
