About The Position

The position involves providing comprehensive inpatient and outpatient care for patients with cardiac arrhythmias and conduction disorders. The role includes performing a wide range of diagnostic and therapeutic electrophysiology procedures, such as catheter ablation for supraventricular and ventricular arrhythmias, device implantation (pacemakers, ICDs, CRT), device extraction, and complex ablations like atrial fibrillation and ventricular tachycardia. The candidate will participate in the electrophysiology call rotation, oversee pre- and post-procedure care, and collaborate with various teams to optimize patient outcomes. Additionally, the role includes academic responsibilities such as teaching and mentoring fellows and students, participating in clinical research, and fulfilling administrative duties.

Requirements

  • MD degree (or equivalent).
  • Board certified or eligible in ABIM Cardiovascular Diseases.
  • Subspecialty certification (or eligibility) in Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology.
  • Completion of an ACGME-accredited electrophysiology fellowship.
  • Possess or be eligible for a full medical license in the State of Texas.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive inpatient and outpatient care for patients with cardiac arrhythmias and conduction disorders.
  • Perform diagnostic and therapeutic electrophysiology procedures, including catheter ablation, device implantation, and complex ablations.
  • Participate in the electrophysiology call rotation for urgent arrhythmia management.
  • Oversee pre- and post-procedure care, including risk assessment and patient counseling.
  • Collaborate with interventional cardiology, advanced heart failure, and other teams to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Support outreach efforts to expand access to electrophysiology services.
  • Teach and mentor cardiovascular medicine fellows, residents, and medical students.
  • Participate in clinical research and contribute to scholarly publications.
  • Document patient encounters in the electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to clinical protocol development.
  • Monitor clinical outcomes and ensure compliance with healthcare regulations.
