About The Position

The Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine (UMMSOM) is experiencing a period of expansion and is seeking exceptional candidates to join the faculty. This is a full-time Assistant Professor of Clinical position in the Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine.

Requirements

• Board certified/eligible.
• Must have a license to practice medicine in the state of Florida (Florida Medical License or University Medical Certificate).

Responsibilities

• Provide ophthalmology medical and surgical services as needed according to service rotation and call schedule.
• Rotate to other sites within the University of Miami Health System according to schedule set by the Chairman and/or Service Director.
• Be active in the education of residents and medical students in the service.
• Maintain high clinical quality, productivity and citizenship within the department.
• Represent the department with clinicians, trainees, and staff who are based at affiliates and referral practices.
• Develop referral and educational relationships within the University of Miami Health System and with other practices on the regional and national levels.
• Develop a regional and eventually national presence as a clinical leader through participation in national and regional meetings.
• Develop, maintain and, as appropriate, secure funding for academic/research activities.
• Develop and/or participate in quality assurance protocols and clinical outcome studies for Bascom Palmer Eye Institute.
• Perform administrative and committee responsibilities as assigned from time to time by the Chairman or Service Director.
• Be willing to see patients at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute satellite locations depending on departmental need.
• Abide by and conform to all university policies and procedures.
