The residency program has a mission to train the next generation in care of vulnerable populations both locally and abroad. The Department of Family and Community Medicine is recruiting an Assistant Professor of Clinical to provide clinical and precepting services in The Family Medicine Center (FMC) at The Christ Hospital (TCH) and ambulatory primary care at a Cincinnati Health Department site. The physician will serve as Residency Faculty for the TCH/UC family medicine residency. They will have teaching responsibilities including teaching principles of osteopathic manipulative medicine, supervising and teaching osteopathic and allopathic residents osteopathic manipulative treatment within the FMC, and providing care and Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment (OMT) for patients whose medical home is the FMC.

  • Provide hands-on OMT instruction in both didactic and clinical settings.
  • Mentor osteopathic and allopathic residents in the principles and techniques of osteopathic medicine.
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of the residency's OMT curriculum, including workshops, lectures, patient care teaching, and longitudinal integration of OMT principles.
  • Work toward meeting requirements for osteopathic recognition and ensure compliance with ACGME/ACOFP educational standards.
  • Work one-on-one with medical students and/or family medicine residents to teach and model ambulatory primary care.
  • Provide direct patient care with a focus on OMT in a family medicine outpatient setting.
  • Re-establish and maintain an OMT referral clinic within the FMC, serving patients across the lifespan for musculoskeletal and somatic dysfunction concerns.
  • Provide primary care at a branch of the Cincinnati Health Department, including managing a primary care patient population and meeting quality of care standards.
  • Collaborate with interprofessional colleagues to promote holistic, evidence-based care.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives within the clinical site(s).
  • Serve on health system committees as needed.
  • Attend weekly practice meeting for the FMC.
  • Contribute to scholarship, including curriculum development, research, regional and national presentations, publications, and peer review.
  • DO degree from an accredited College of Osteopathic Medicine.
  • Unrestricted Ohio Medical License and DEA license.
  • Completion of three-year Family Medicine residency program.
  • Board-certified in Family Medicine by the American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM) or the American Osteopathic Board of Family Physicians (AOBFP). Board eligible applicants may apply, but full certification required prior to start date.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in a broad range of OMT techniques.
  • Prior teaching experience ideal but not required.
  • Strong commitment to teaching, mentorship, and academic medicine.

  • Providing point-of-care teaching tailored to the resident and patient scenario.
  • Directing residents to appropriate resources.
  • Assessing residents and providing timely feedback.

  • Demonstrates commitment to professional development through seeking additional training and/or participating in scholarly work.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to vulnerable populations in current or prior clinical care activities.
