About The Position

Francis Marion University and the Department of Chemistry invite applications for a tenure-track, Assistant Professor of Chemistry with a background in physical chemistry or a related field. The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching and research in a liberal arts setting.

Requirements

• An earned doctorate in chemistry or a related discipline from an accredited institution is strongly preferred.
• ABD candidates will be considered but must have completed their Ph.D. by August 15, 2026.
• Some level of teaching experience is expected.

Responsibilities

• Teaching general chemistry courses for chemistry majors and non-majors.
• Teaching upper-level chemistry courses in physical chemistry as needed.
• Performing scholarly activities and maintaining an active research program that involves undergraduate researchers.
• Participating in faculty governance by serving on department/university committees.
• Providing academic advising for students during registration.
• Conducting additional academic and professional services as needed by the department.
