About The Position

The Department of Biology at St. Mary's College of Maryland is accepting applications for the position of Assistant Professor of Biology, beginning August 2026. Teaching responsibilities will include participation in one or more of our core biology courses (Principles of Biology I and II, Genetics, and Ecology and Evolution), an upper division laboratory course in developmental biology and/or human anatomy and further opportunities to teach electives and biology laboratories in the candidate's specialty. There is also the expectation that the successful candidates will establish and maintain an exceptional research program involving undergraduates. All professors at St. Mary's College are expected to contribute to the college-wide core curriculum as well as to their departmental curriculum. Requirements

  • Ph.D. in biology or related fields.

Responsibilities

  • Teach core biology courses including Principles of Biology I and II, Genetics, and Ecology and Evolution.
  • Teach an upper division laboratory course in developmental biology and/or human anatomy.
  • Develop and teach electives and biology laboratories in the candidate's specialty.
  • Establish and maintain a research program involving undergraduates.
  • Contribute to the college-wide core curriculum and departmental curriculum.
  • Participate in the Life at the Molecular and Cellular Scale cluster hire initiative.
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff across campus to build community and develop cross-disciplinary research collaborations.
