About The Position

The Saint Mary's College Department of Biology invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor with specialization in genetics, molecular biology, or microbiology beginning Fall 2026. We are particularly interested in applicants with research experience in prokaryotes, though this is not required.

Requirements

• PhD in Biology
• A strong commitment to inclusive pedagogy and to teaching undergraduates in a liberal arts context.

Nice To Haves

• Research expertise in prokaryotes will be considered an asset, but is not required.

Responsibilities

• Teaching load of 9 teaching contact hours per semester (3 lectures or labs) that may include courses such as Genetics, Molecular Biology, and Microbiology.
• Developing and maintaining an active research program that involves undergraduate researchers.
• Providing service to the Biology Department and broader campus community, including attendance at meetings and faculty events, academic advising of students, and participation in Departmental and Campus committees.
