The University of Utah is seeking applications for a tenure track position in Arabic at the rank of Assistant Professor within the Department of World Languages and Cultures, starting July 1, 2025. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching Arabic language courses at all levels, with a particular emphasis on advanced courses, as well as content courses in English related to their area of expertise. Candidates must possess a Ph.D. in Arabic Cultural Studies, Comparative Literature, Middle/Near Eastern Studies, Second Language Acquisition, Linguistics, or a related field by the start date. The position requires demonstrated experience in teaching Arabic as a foreign language at the college level in North America, along with native or near-native fluency in both Arabic and English. Candidates should also exhibit adaptability with instructional technologies and experience in implementing contemporary foreign language teaching methodologies. Involvement in the professional field and a commitment to research activities are essential components of this role. The teaching load is set at two courses per semester (2-2).
