About The Position

The Departments of American Studies and Women's and Gender Studies at Wellesley College are seeking applications for a full-time tenure-track position at the level of assistant professor in the field of Queer and Trans Studies, set to begin in July 2025. This position is particularly focused on candidates whose work and teaching engage with questions of race and Queer of Color Critique. The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellence in teaching and possess a diverse range of interests that align with the liberal arts undergraduate education model. A strong commitment to interdisciplinary scholarship is also essential for this role. The successful candidate will be responsible for a teaching load of four courses per academic year. This includes developing and delivering engaging course content, mentoring students, and contributing to the academic community through research and service. Candidates are expected to submit their application materials electronically, which should include a letter of application, a curriculum vitae, a description of research interests, a statement of teaching experience, a writing sample, and three letters of recommendation. The online application system will facilitate the submission of recommendation letters directly from the recommenders or dossier services. The review of applications will commence on September 15, 2024, and candidates are encouraged to submit their materials as early as possible for best consideration. Wellesley College is committed to diversity and inclusion, and candidates who can contribute to this goal are particularly encouraged to apply. The college embraces and honors differences and diversity, believing that the best ideas and solutions arise from a variety of voices, perspectives, and experiences.
