About The Position

This is a full-time 9-month contract position with a teaching, service, and scholarship appointment in the Department of Agriculture and Tourism in the College of Business and Economic Development. The percentages (80% teaching, 10% service, 10% scholarship) and the contract length may vary, potentially becoming a 12-month contract depending on the level of service required for internal policy and animal care.

Requirements

• PhD in animal science (or related field) or DVM with large animal experience.
• ABD candidates are encouraged to apply.
• Industry experience may substitute for the terminal degree requirement; however, the candidate would be hired as an instructor rather than tenure-track.

Responsibilities

• Develop an innovative teaching and research program in agriculture.
• Teach and assess a variety of undergraduate courses and labs in animal science and/or other courses based on interests and programmatic needs.
• Engage students in high-impact learning practices.
• Engage in assessment and continuous improvement of the animal science program.
• Effectively advise and mentor students at the undergraduate level.
• Conduct research and publish manuscripts in refereed journals related to their field of expertise or on the scholarship of teaching and learning, and actively seek external funding.
• Provide meaningful service to the department, college, university, and profession.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Department Head and/or Dean.
• Advise the Pre-Vet Club and serve on departmental, college, and/or university committees.
• Interact with and outreach to the general public and participate in related academic societies.
