About The Position

The University of Tennessee is seeking an Assistant Professor of Agricultural and Resource Economics with a focus on Production Economics and Farm Management. The successful candidate will be expected to develop a nationally-recognized research program in areas such as agricultural production economics, farm management, agribusiness, risk management, precision agriculture, and farm data management. The role includes teaching graduate or undergraduate courses, publishing in high-quality journals, acquiring extramural funding, mentoring students, and participating in service activities within the Department, College, University, and profession. The expected start date for this position is August 1, 2025.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. or ABD with an expected completion date before August 1, 2025, in agricultural economics, economics, or a closely related field.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work in disciplinary and interdisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a nationally-recognized research program focusing on agricultural production economics, farm management, agribusiness, risk management, precision agriculture, and farm data management.
  • Teach graduate or undergraduate courses in the Department of Agricultural & Resource Economics.
  • Publish in high quality disciplinary and multidisciplinary journals.
  • Acquire extramural funding.
  • Mentor and supervise undergraduate and graduate students.
  • Participate in service activities of the Department, College, University, and profession.
