About The Position

The University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Accounting, Lee Business School [R0144340] . Anticipated start date of July 1st of 2025 ROLE of the POSITION This full-time, tenure-track position involves teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels, conducting significant research leading to high-quality refereed publications, and performing appropriate internal and external service activities. PROFILE of the COLLEGE The Lee Business School, which is accredited by the AACSB, is home to approximately 85 faculty and 4,000 students, including 500 graduate students. The school offers ten bachelor's degrees and seven master’s degrees, including a Master of Accounting and MBA programs. PROFILE of the DEPARTMENT The Department of Accounting is individually accredited by the AACSB and is one of 33 U.S. universities to be endorsed by the Institute of Internal Auditors. The department has 17 full-time faculty members and offers both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in accounting. Approximately 150 bachelor’s and 55 master’s students graduate from UNLV’s accounting programs each year. UNLV’s accounting faculty members strive to be excellent teachers whose research targets the highest-quality academic journals. ABOUT the COMMUNITY UNLV is located in the vibrant and growing city of Las Vegas, a city that boasts one of the most connected airports in the world, world-class dining and entertainment, premier athletic teams and events, and is a destination city for millions of visitors each year. Many faculty members live in the bordering city of Henderson, which is a thriving suburb noted for its master-planned communities, beautiful parks, miles of jogging and bike trails, and for having more sunshine than almost any other city in the United States. Las Vegas residents live close to the Hoover Dam and Lake Mead, and are within comfortable driving distance of Los Angeles, San Diego, Phoenix, and southern Utah.

Requirements

This position requires a doctoral degree from an AACSB-accredited college or university.
ABDs may be considered, but credentials must be obtained prior to the start date.
Candidates must demonstrate the potential for excellence in both research and teaching, as evidenced by a portfolio of high-quality published and/or ongoing research and effective teaching evaluations.

Nice To Haves

Professional certification (e.g., CPA, CMA, CISA, CIA) is strongly preferred.
Our primary teaching needs are in accounting information systems and data analytics, but we will also consider audit, financial, and managerial.
Preference will also be given to those with a demonstrated focus on behavioral research (e.g., experimental, qualitative) with the potential for publication in premier academic accounting journals.
