About The Position

Assistant Professor, Accounting The Business Department at the University of Wisconsin-Stout seeks individuals with an expertise in accounting, a passion for teaching, an inquisitive disposition for applied research, and leadership skills to fill one tenure-track assistant professor position beginning in August of 2026. Located in Menomonie, Wisconsin, UW-Stout fulfills its mission as Wisconsin's polytechnic university by preparing career-ready, creative thinkers who graduate equipped with the knowledge and skills to emerge as leaders in their workplaces and communities. Requirements

  • Master’s in Business, Accounting, Finance or closely related field plus five (5) years of accounting experience and one (1) year of teaching or training experience.
  • A CPA license (Active or Inactive) or CMA (Active or Inactive) required by employment start date ( 8/17/2026).

Nice To Haves

  • Ph.D. in Business related field.
  • Proven ability to effectively teach Accounting or related subject to diverse undergraduate audiences, both in-person and online.
  • Experience and/or interest in mentoring undergraduate student applied research/projects.
  • Demonstrated potential for applied scholarship.
  • Note: A terminal degree (Ph.D., DBA, etc.) required for promotion to full professor, unless by special exception process.

Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate courses in Accounting including Introduction to Financial Accounting, Corporate and Managerial Accounting and application software for spreadsheets and databases.
  • Additional courses could include Accounting for Management Decisions, Cost Accounting and Tax Accounting.
  • A normal teaching load is 12 credits per semester.
  • While the focus is on teaching, there are clear expectations of scholarly research and service activities.
  • This position may require alternative delivery methods and/or non-traditional teaching times.
  • Academic advisement and assessment of student learning in business-related programs is also significant in this position.
