About The Position

McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston, a leading academic health center, invites applications for a full-time 1.0 FTE, non-tenure clinical (NTC) track Assistant Professor position in the Department of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery. The selected candidate will contribute to the department's mission to educate health science professionals, discover and translate advances in the biomedical and social sciences, and model the best practices in clinical care and public health through Texas high-level responsibilities: research, teaching, clinical service, administrative activities, and other services.

Requirements

  • Must have a Texas Medical License or be eligible for a Texas Faculty Temporary License.
  • Required or preferred board certification/eligibility.
  • Required or preferred minimum 20 years of clinical experience or years post-residency.

Responsibilities

  • Teach and participate in clinical service and administrative activities.
  • Provide direct patient care and supervision of medical students and residents in clinic and hospital settings.
  • Participate in the Cardiothoracic & Vascular Surgery practice in the Greater Houston area Memorial Hermann locations.
  • Participate in a UT general Cardiothoracic & Vascular Surgery physician group call team for coverage.
  • Collaborate with other Cardiothoracic & Vascular Surgery physicians who will join the practice.
  • Be involved in the recruitment, selection, and hiring of new or additional physicians to the group.
  • Provide feedback regarding office operations including hiring staff, office logistics, and new physician recruitment.
  • Participate in the education and training of medical students and residents.
  • Support the research mission of the department and university by facilitating access to patients by research staff, assisting with the collection of research data, and providing information on ongoing research studies.
