About The Position

The Theater Arts Program (Department of Visual and Performing Arts) at Arcadia University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor of Musical Theater to start for the Fall 2026 semester. Requirements

  • Terminal degree in related discipline, with relevant previous teaching and/or professional experience
  • Collaboration and leadership skills
  • A capacity for adapting to and working within the program's existing resources and parameters
  • A desire to teach within the context of a broad-based liberal arts educational context

  • A proven ability to work with others from a variety of cultures and backgrounds
  • Strong industry connections
  • Knowledge of musical theater history and repertoire
  • Understanding of current trends in musical theater

Responsibilities

  • Directing the program's concentration in Musical Theater
  • Teaching courses in various aspects of musical theater performance within that concentration (including voice instruction)
  • Advising and mentoring undergraduate musical theater students
  • Serve as vocal coach for private voice lessons for students in the Musical Theater concentration
  • Serve as musical director and accompanist for departmental rehearsals and productions
  • Teach performance-based acting and musical theater courses
  • Actively involved in the program's recruitment efforts (which will include travel)
  • Participation in department, university, and professional service activities
  • Academic advising of undergraduate students
  • Collaboration in various campus outreach and donor relations efforts
