The Music Therapy program at Nazareth University is seeking applicants for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor position, starting in August 2025. This role is designed for individuals with expertise in culturally relevant clinical practice, behavioral health, and the support of student research. The successful candidate will join a collaborative team within the School of Music and the College of Interprofessional Health and Human Services, emphasizing innovation, diversity, equity, and inclusion in the education of future music therapists. The position entails teaching responsibilities across both undergraduate and graduate programs, aligned with the candidate's areas of expertise. This includes advising students on their culminating projects and the potential to teach summer courses. The successful applicant will also be expected to supervise student clinical and internship experiences. Additionally, the role includes the responsibilities of Graduate Program Director, which the candidate will assume within their first year, including overseeing the program during the summer months for which a stipend will be provided. Contributions to curriculum development and review, participation in student recruitment activities, and engagement in departmental and university committee service are also essential components of this position. The candidate will be expected to maintain a commitment to professional scholarship and represent the program at community events and professional music therapy conferences. The Nazareth Music Therapy program, established in 1980, prepares over 60 students in undergraduate, equivalency, and master's programs, qualifying them for the New York State License in Creative Arts Therapy. The program is supported by the Lipson Music Therapy Clinic, which collaborates with various health disciplines to provide comprehensive care to community members.
