The Bower School of Music & the Arts (BSM&A) at Florida Gulf Coast University invites applications for a 9-month, multi-year appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor of Music Education, who will also serve as Area Head of Music Education and BME degree program coordinator. This position entails coordinating the Bachelor of Music Education degree program and assuming a senior leadership role in music education within the school. Responsibilities include teaching courses in music education, music methods, coordinating student internships, supervising student teachers, monitoring state certification requirements, and serving as a liaison for accreditation procedures with relevant agencies. The successful candidate will also participate in the development of a proposal for a new Master of Music degree and may teach in a secondary area based on expertise and departmental needs. Candidates must hold a terminal degree in music education and present a record of scholarly and/or administrative achievement, with a demonstrated capacity to continue research and creative activity at FGCU.
