About The Position

The Department of Modern Languages and Comparative Literature at Baruch College of the City University of New York invites applications for a tenure-track position for an Assistant Professor in Spanish with a specialization in modern Peninsular Spanish literature, culture, and cinema. We are seeking a candidate who is able to teach 19th, 20th, and 21st century courses on peninsular literature and culture, as well as Spanish language courses at all levels and courses in film studies. Baruch College is located in the historic Gramercy Park/Flatiron district of Manhattan and is one of eleven senior public colleges of the City University of New York (CUNY). Requirements

  • Completion of the Ph.D. in the appropriate field before January 2026 is a requirement.
  • A strong research portfolio and experience in language teaching are essential.

Responsibilities

  • Teach 19th, 20th, and 21st century courses on peninsular literature and culture
  • Teach Spanish language courses at all levels
  • Teach courses in film studies
