The University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications for Assistant Professor, Mechanical Engineering with Emphasis on Nuclear Engineering, College of Engineering. The Department of Mechanical Engineering at UNLV invites applications for a Full-Time, Tenure-Track, Assistant Professor in Mechanical Engineering with emphasis on Nuclear Engineering. The earliest start date is July 1st, 2025. We invite applicants with a strong multidisciplinary research record and expertise in nuclear engineering. Potential expertise areas of interest include but are not limited to multiscale/multiphysics modeling and simulation (M&S), intelligent control and operation of advanced nuclear systems, computational & experimental thermal hydraulics, multiphase flow, data science and machine learning (ML) for reactors design and safety, Boron Neutron Capture Therapy (BNCT), and nuclear thermal propulsion rockets. The successful candidates will be expected to teach and develop undergraduate/graduate courses in their expertise areas and supervise master and doctoral students and participate in appropriate levels of service to the department, college, university, and the profession, as well as collaborating with faculty researchers within the department and the University. The candidates will also be expected to develop a vigorous and sustainable grant funded research program in his or her area of expertise that leads to personal professional development and publish results from research in scholarly journals.
