About The Position

The Department of Mathematics at the University of Massachusetts Boston invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professorship in Mathematics starting September 1, 2026. The research area of interest is in applied mathematics with a preferred emphasis in Theoretical and Computational Statistics, Machine Learning, Data Science, and/or Mathematical Molecular Biology. We are particularly interested in candidates with research interests which promote synergy and collaboration with the current department and college faculty. Partnerships and collaborations with academic institutions and industry research laboratories in the Greater Boston area offer substantial opportunities for professional development. The successful candidate must possess a PhD degree in mathematics, statistics or related fields and must have a robust research program and strong potential to secure extramural funding. The successful candidate will have an opportunity to expand and strengthen the research within the department and college. All candidates must exhibit a clear commitment to advancing the university's teaching mission through their participation in on-going student success initiatives in the department and the university.
