Wayne State University is searching for an experienced Assistant Professor- Mathematics at its Detroit campus location. The Department of Mathematics at Wayne State University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor, to begin on 8/18/2026. The search is open to candidates in Optimization, Stochastic Modeling, and Applied Probability-fields foundational to complex systems modeling and central to modern machine learning. Candidates whose research includes computational components or contributes to the mathematical foundations of artificial intelligence are particularly encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will be expected to establish an independent, externally funded research program and demonstrate potential for excellence in both teaching and service.
