About The Position

The University of Cincinnati Blue Ash College seeks applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Literacy and English to teach reading, study skills and developmental writing in our growing department. This position will be focused on teaching developmental reading instruction, strategies for academic success, and developmental writing. The Department of English and Communication is a collegial, supportive faculty that centers the student at the heart of our instruction. The pedagogical approaches of both the reading and writing programs are rooted in process-based reading and composition that is reflective and inquiry-driven.

Requirements

  • A doctorate degree in Reading and Literacy, or a closely related field with at least 18 credit hours of graduate-level coursework in English Composition (master's level or higher), or a doctorate degree in English Composition with at least 18 credit hours of graduate-level coursework in Reading or Literacy (master's level or higher).
  • Three (3) academic years of experience teaching at the college level in Reading or Literacy, writing composition or a closely related field.

Responsibilities

  • Teaching 12 credit hours per semester in a 4/4 load, including courses focused on developmental reading instruction, strategies for academic success, and developmental writing.
  • Participating in program assessment and curriculum development.
  • Participating in department, college, and university service such as serving on the composition steering committee or the college technology committee.
  • Engaging in professional and scholarly activities, such as presentations at scholarly venues, publication in relevant professional publications, publication of creative works, or other scholarly methods of disseminating knowledge.
