The Department of Health, Physical Education and Recreation (HPER) in the College of Education and Human Development invites applications for a position as Assistant Professor.
Teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses within the HPER curriculum. This may include a variety of instructional methods such as in-person, hybrid, online, or any combination thereof.
Develop and enhance HPER programs at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, ensuring alignment with current educational standards and best practices.
Develop clinical competencies programming to prepare the next generation of therapist and Sport Science practitioners.
Engage in and publish research, scholarly, and creative activities in your area or expertise, contributing to the academic field and enhancing the institution's reputation.
Pursue and sustain external funding through grants and partnerships to support research, program development, and student opportunities.
Supervise and collaborate with undergraduate and graduate students on research projects, including overseeing graduate projects and theses.
Mentor and advise students at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, providing guidance on career paths and further educational opportunities.
Participate in departmental, college, and university committees.
Create and support service-learning opportunities for students, integrating community engagement with academic learning.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Ph.D. in Kinesiology, Exercise Physiology, or a closely related field.
Track record or potential for interdisciplinary research, with a demonstrated ability to secure external funding and publish in relevant academic fields.
Demonstrated ability to teach undergraduate and graduate-level courses in Kinesiology, Clinical Exercise Science, Therapeutic Recreation, or related fields.
Certification by a recognized professional body (e.g., American College of Sports Medicine - NSCA or ACSM CPT, Certified Clinical Exercise Physiologist or Registered Clinical Exercise Physiologist).
