About The Position

The Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Dermatology at the University of Kansas Medical Center will provide comprehensive dermatologic care across KUMC clinical sites. This role includes delivering evidence based, patient centered care in outpatient and, as appropriate, inpatient settings, performing diagnostic and therapeutic dermatologic procedures, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to support high quality patient outcomes and safety. The position is based within an academic dermatology division that supports a broad scope of general and medical dermatology services and cares for patients with a wide range of dermatologic conditions. Clinical care is delivered in the context of a large academic medical center, including a tertiary care hospital and an NCI designated cancer center, with exposure to complex medical, oncologic, and transplant related dermatologic conditions. In addition, the Assistant Professor will play an active role in the education and training of residents, medical students, and fellows, and will participate in departmental and divisional academic, quality improvement, and scholarly activities. Opportunities exist for professional development within specialized areas of dermatology and through clinician investigator pathways, consistent with departmental needs and individual interests.

Responsibilities

  • Provide patient centered dermatologic care in ambulatory clinic settings, delivering evidence based diagnosis and treatment for a broad range of conditions.
  • Conduct comprehensive patient evaluations and develop individualized care plans, including appropriate follow up and coordination of care.
  • Complete documentation of patient encounters to support continuity of care, medical follow up, and billing requirements.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support clinical care, education, research, and quality improvement initiatives within the Division and Department.
  • Instruct and mentor medical students, residents, and fellows in clinical and educational settings; provide coaching appropriate to the learner’s level and evaluate learner performance.
  • Participate in departmental, divisional, and institutional meetings, seminars, and faculty activities as permitted by clinical and academic responsibilities.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development.
  • Engage in scholarly activity, research, and quality improvement efforts aligned with the missions of the department and division, which may include clinical trials or investigator initiated studies.
