About The Position

The University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications for Assistant Professor in Structural Engineering, Civil and Environmental Engineering and Construction Department (CEEC) [R0149915]. The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and Construction (CEEC) of the Howard R. Hughes College of Engineering at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) invites applications for a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor position in the structural engineering area commencing Fall 2026. The successful candidate will be expected to develop a vigorous and sustainable funded research program in their area of expertise, mentor to graduate undergraduate and graduate students, develop and teach undergraduate and graduate courses in their expertise area related to structural engineering and mechanics, and participate in service to the Department, College, University, and profession.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, structural engineering, architectural engineering, engineering/applied mechanics, mechanical engineering, or materials engineering.
  • Ph.D. degree in civil engineering or a closely related discipline from an accredited college or university.
  • Credentials must be obtained prior to the start date.

Nice To Haves

  • Background in computational mechanics for structural materials and/or structural systems.
  • Experience in hazard mitigation to address natural disaster impacts.
  • Knowledge of resilient and intelligent infrastructure systems.
  • Innovation and application of AI and data science in structural engineering and mechanics.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license or the ability to obtain one within a reasonable time period.
  • Strong background in interdisciplinary research.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a vigorous and sustainable funded research program in structural engineering.
