The University of North Carolina Wilmington (UNCW) is seeking a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Marine Biology to join the Department of Biology and Marine Biology. This position, starting in August 2025, aims to enhance the department's research and teaching capabilities, particularly in marine botany, phycology, mycology, and marine genomics. The successful candidate will be expected to establish a robust, externally funded research program while contributing to the teaching mission at both graduate and undergraduate levels. The department values inclusivity and aims to foster a welcoming environment for all students and staff.

  • Develop and maintain a rigorous, extramurally funded research program.
  • Contribute to the Department's teaching mission at both graduate and undergraduate levels.

  • Collaborate with faculty and leverage existing UNCW research facilities.
  • Ph.D. in Marine Biology or related discipline.
  • Postdoctoral experience or other professional research experience at the time of appointment.
  • Demonstrated potential for excellence in research and teaching.
  • Specialization in Phycology, Marine Botany, or Mycology.
  • Experience integrating marine genomics and quantitative approaches in research.
  • Excellent support for research and faculty development.
  • Access to unique departmental facilities and resources for research.
