About The Position

This tenure-track Assistant Professor in English will serve as the department’s expert in Literature and Composition. The primary responsibility of this position is teaching, but continuing to develop a research agenda is expected and supported by the department and college.

Requirements

  • PhD in American or British Literature with concentration in Women’s Literature or Gender and Sexuality Studies.
  • Doctoral candidates (ABDs) must have a degree in-hand by August 2026.
  • Experience teaching Composition courses
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Good organizational skills and the ability to complete tasks within strict timelines.

Responsibilities

  • Teach 21 credit hours per academic year as assigned.
  • Teaching includes preparing class and evaluation materials, delivering lectures, grading, and being available for student questions.
  • Must be able to teach Women’s Literature, Composition, and WID.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to student success in the classroom and during office hours
  • Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Maintains knowledge and awareness of digital accessibility including the American with Disabilities Act and Section 508.
  • Produces and remediates digitally accessible materials in accordance with FLC standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned
