The School of Computing (SoC) at Montclair State University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in the area of Internet of Things (IoT) and Computer Engineering. We seek a dynamic scholar whose research and teaching interests lie at the intersection of IoT and computing, and who will leverage Montclair's strategic location to cultivate the next generation of technology innovators. The successful candidate will be expected to: Demonstrate strong potential for excellence in teaching and curriculum development. Develop and deliver advanced, industry-relevant courses in areas such as embedded systems, IoT security, large-scale distributed computing, edge computing, and related domains at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Establish a robust, externally funded research program with interdisciplinary impact, particularly in application areas such as smart cities, healthcare technologies, and intelligent systems. Engage in collaborative initiatives within the university and with external partners to advance research, innovation, technology transfer, and sustain awareness of the rapidly changing ecosystem. Contribute to service at the school, college, and university levels, and actively participate in outreach to the broader computing and engineering communities. THE SCHOOL OF COMPUTING The School of Computing (SoC) aims to be a global leader in computing education and research, offering a transformative student experience that prioritizes active learning and real-world problem-solving. Through hands-on labs and programs using industry-level hardware and software as well as interdisciplinary skill development, the SoC empowers all students to excel in the workforce, drive technological innovation, and contribute to an AI-driven world that prioritizes humanity and societal well-being. At the research level, the SoC fosters innovation by forming interdisciplinary clusters that unite and augment faculty expertise and capacities across health, engineering, security, and computing. These clusters promote impactful collaboration, addressing complex challenges and delivering solutions with significant real-world implications. The School of Computing currently comprises 37 full-time tenured and tenure-track faculty, four full-time teaching professors, and approximately 50 part-time instructors, collectively serving more than 1,700 students. The School has demonstrated strong momentum in research, securing federal, state, and foundation funding, including NSF CAREER awards, with a total of over $8 million in research grants awarded within the past decade.   • Evidence of, or potential for, excellence in teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
  • Demonstrated strong communication and interpersonal skills to support student success and interdisciplinary collaboration.
