About The Position

Augusta University's Department of Art and Design is seeking to fill a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in Graphic Design, anticipated to begin August 2026. We seek individuals who can teach entry-level and advanced courses in graphic design, including UI/UX, motion graphics, design history, typography, and design for print and publication, as well as foundation-level 2D design as needed. This position carries a 2/2 teaching load with opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration, community engagement, and professional practice.

Requirements

• MFA in Graphic Design or a closely related field, or equivalent terminal degree in the appropriate discipline.
• Evidence of ability as a teacher.
• Evidence of activity as a scholar and ability in all other duties assigned.
• Successful experience (which will necessarily be waived for those just entering the academic profession who meet all other requirements).
• Desirable personal qualities judged on the basis of personal interview, complete biographical data, and recommendations.

Nice To Haves

• Evidence of effectiveness as a teacher and potential to excel in mentoring undergraduate students.
• Evidence of ongoing scholarly or creative activity with potential for regional, national, or broader impact.
• A combination of industry and teaching experience is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Teach two studio courses per semester in foundation and graphic design (BFA and BA concentrations).
• Develop and enhance departmental curricula while contributing to program growth.
• Mentor and advise undergraduate students, supporting portfolio development and professional preparation.
• Maintain an active program of creative research or scholarship with regional, national, or broader impact.
• Contribute to departmental, college, and university service through committees and community engagement.
