About the position

The Department of Earth Sciences at Binghamton University invites applications for a tenure-track position as assistant professor in the field of geohydrology. We seek a broadly trained earth scientist who uses hydrology to investigate critical societal concerns. Specifically, we envision hiring a geohydrologist who collects physical and/or chemical hydrologic data from surface and groundwater field sites and analyzes that data with appropriate techniques to investigate changes in hydrologic systems, whether natural or human-induced. We seek an active scholar who can add to our current research at the intersection of environmental geoscience and global change and interact with Binghamton's First-Year Research Program (FRI) streams in Environmental Visualization and Biogeochemistry.

Responsibilities

  • Teach an introductory-level course with a water focus.
  • Teach an intermediate undergraduate level field-based environmental hydrology course.
  • Teach an advanced/graduate level course in their area of specialty.
  • Develop an active grant-funded research program.
  • Supervise undergraduate and graduate students at the master's and doctoral levels.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in geology, earth science, or a related field required at the time of appointment (August 18, 2025).
  • Post-doctoral experience, including teaching experience, preferred.
