About The Position

Penn State Behrend invites applicants for a tenure-track position in Electrical or Computer Engineering starting Spring term (January) or Fall term (August) of 2026. This position will be in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department which supports three programs: electrical engineering, computer engineering, and electrical and computer engineering technology, where teaching assignments could be for any of these three. This is an exciting opportunity to join a team of educators and researchers in nationally recognized programs with access to world-class facilities. The successful candidate will be expected to be committed to undergraduate education, the development of a funded research program, and service to the university. Faculty at Penn State Behrend’s School of Engineering benefit from strong institutional support for both undergraduate education and applied research. We encourage scholarship that aligns with our strengths in power and energy systems, battery testing and design, embedded and cyber-physical systems, devices (including fabrication) and sensors, robotics and automation, artificial intelligence and machine learning, advanced electronics, and communications. Our faculty are particularly encouraged to pursue interdisciplinary collaborations and industry partnerships, leveraging Behrend’s Open Lab model and state-of-the-art facilities. Looking ahead, construction will begin in 2026 on the new Center for Manufacturing Competitiveness (CMC), which will feature dedicated resources for metal casting, advanced polymer research, and battery testing. Research in these areas will be especially valued. The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate courses and guide senior design projects in area(s) electric circuits, electromagnetics, power, energy, automation, digital signal processing, embedded systems, microprocessors, VLSI digital circuits, and/or electrical or computer engineering laboratories in a collaborative environment and in research program that integrates undergraduate student experiences.

  • A Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or a closely related field, is required by the appointment start date.
