The Department of Humanities, Communications, and Languages (HCL) provides high-quality instruction in nine (9) disciplines. Faculty in American Sign Language, Chinese, English for Academic Purposes (EAP), French, Humanities, Philosophy, Religious Studies, Spanish, and Speech contribute to the college's General Education curriculum by helping students acquire valuable critical thinking and communication skills, and by teaching them about creative human endeavors in the past and present, which inspire a better future. We are seeking two (2) Assistant Professors to teach in the humanities discipline. One position will be housed primarily at the Downtown Blount Center (Gainesville) and the other at the Andrews Center (Starke) and Watson Center (Keystone Heights). Both positions may also be assigned to one of the College’s other locations throughout Alachua and Bradford counties. Under general supervision, the Assistant Professor will develop, prepare, and teach a variety of coursework in humanities. Candidates must have the flexibility to teach during the day, evening, or online, as well as taught using other distance learning formats. This position has a 9-month contract based on teaching 15 credit hours in the Fall and 15 credit hours in the Spring. Summer instructional opportunities may be available for additional compensation based upon departmental need. This position’s starting salary is $50,303 annually. Any salary amount above this is commensurate upon an individual’s qualifications.
