About The Position

The Department of Computer Science in the Erik Jonsson School of Engineering and Computer Science at The University of Texas at Dallas (UT Dallas) invites applications for multiple tenure-system faculty positions at the rank of Assistant Professor. Applicants from all areas of computer science are sought. Applicants from emerging and interdisciplinary computing areas, including but not limited to quantum computing, robotics, computational neuroscience, intelligent transportation, smart health, systems cybersecurity, and AI+X are also encouraged to apply. Teaching responsibilities include undergraduate and graduate level courses in the core curriculum and in the research area of the candidate. In addition to teaching, the position requires an active agenda of research and publication as well as service in the department, UT Dallas, and professional communities. The appointment commences for the fall 2026 semester. The Department of Computer Science at UT Dallas is one of the largest in the country, with more than 5,000 students, and offers B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in both Computer Science and Software Engineering. It also offers joint degrees in Data Science, Computer Engineering, Computational and Geospatial Science, and Cybersecurity Technology and Policy. The department is home to 57 tenure-system faculty members, including many NSF CAREER awardees. The department is primarily housed in a 150,000 square feet facility and has excellent computing support. It houses several centers and institutes, particularly in the areas of ML, AI, cyber security, human language technology, and net centric software. Junior faculty members receive outstanding support for launching and becoming successful in their academic career.

Requirements

  • A PhD or equivalent in Computer Science or Software Engineering is required prior to employment; those with ABD status will be considered at the application/interviewing stage.
  • Candidates are expected to demonstrate the ability to work effectively in a highly collaborative, engaging, and dynamic environment comprised of individuals with a range of backgrounds, skills, and perspectives.
  • We are seeking candidates able to produce research and scholarly or creative achievements that enhance the program and the discipline, and able to deliver high quality teaching using evidence-based practices to effectively engage students from a range of backgrounds and experiences.
